Musical auditions

Next month I will start auditioning for musicals. Only musicals. I found great site for musical lovers. I will use the site to post my journey. So when I am not interning, making films, I will be trying to get paid jobs in musicals. Wish me luck. I have broadway CDS and a book or two with broadway songs. Here is my audition website. I just created it, so I don't have an entry yet. Eunice Audition website

My first musical instrument

I decided to look online today for my first Violin. I was able to find a cheap one on SAM ASH. It doesn't make sense spending a lot of money on your first musical instrument. I will also research FREE lessons. If I can't find someone who would teach me how to play for FREE, I will start looking into inexpensive lessons. I am so excited. I've never really wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument as much as I want to learn the violin. All of my nephews and my niece play the violin. Maybe one day I will play something with them. Until then, I have to learn how to play first. Hopefully I will have my violin by the end of this month or beginning of next month.

P.S. I found free violin lessons on Craigslist.

Finding my dance style

I've always had a love for dancing. I am not a great dancer but I am not a bad one either. I can do dances that requires me to grind up aganist my partner and shake my ass...blame it on my growing up in Brooklyn, NY around carribbean folks. I'm not too good with hip hop or dance that requires technique. I really got into krump dancing and hopefully in the future I will learn more about it. For the past three years I've been searching for the right dance style for my moods, body and personality. I've done modern, lyrical, hiphop, jazz and ballet. After one or two classes, I never go back. I've decided to try one last time to find the perfect dance style for me and perfect it. Starting next month I want to start taking contemporary dance classes. I've been interested in comtemporary for a long time and think I've finally found the style to release my emotions, get in shape and express myself. I want to become so good at it that I can perform in front of people as well as get part time jobs dancing. I do not want to become a professional dancer. I just want to dance well with a certain technique. So I'm going to buy my ten classes membership this month and hopefully start my dance classes next month. This is my last chance to dance.

Violin lessons

I've decided to take violin lessons. I was never given the opprotunity to learn how to play musical instruments growing up, let alone enjoy music. I grew up on broadway musical, but that was by my own desire. That is what fed my love of certain musical styles. I cenjoy all forms of music. I love classic, jazz and blues...my favorite is opera and "broadway".

As I was walking in the train station, I was offered music lesson by a man playing near the 2 train. I took him up on his offer. The minute I put that violin under my chin, I knew if there was an instrument for me to learn it would be the violin. I am going to research some violin prices and buy one. I'm going to even take learning the violin seriously. The man offered me free lessons on the train. I will take his offer seriously but I also want to take lessons from a person who is a professional.

*I took a picture of him trying to teach someone how to play. That is not me in the picture.

Ray Lamontagne

I don't know if it's it's the writer in me but I am only interested in artists that have interesting back story. I was introduced to a new artist named Ray Lamontagne, last night. The first thing I did was google some of his lyrics. After reading them and approving of the emotional message behind them. I googled the artist himself and found him to be a very interesting character. Now I was ready to listen to his music. I had two options, itunes or youtube. Being a sometimes visual person, I log into youtube and checked out recommanded songs by him. I have to say overall I was impressed. My favorite song right now is "Jolene". It got me a little emotional. You should check out one of his shows when you have the time. As for me right now I will stick to youtube. Something tells me that you are better off checking him out if you are in a romantic relationship, otherwise you will leave the concert depressed and heart heavy.

I wonder if I could get his album cover on a t-shirt.

Janelle Monae

I would like to say that I see things in objects in numbers, letters and colors. I'm drawn to loud, bold, bright and funky personalities. People who don't know me think I am crazy. People who know me, know that I am crazy. But within my craziness, lies sanity. I am a creative spirit and love embracing all things creative. I've dicovered this new artist that is out of this world...literally. I'm not a person who is easliy impress nor am I a fan of any artist right now. There are times when I get inspirations but I am my biggest fan. If I weren't I wouldn't give myself permission to be as creative as I am whether people accuse me of insanity or not. I think this artist music and personality is insane within sanity. Feel free to check her out Janelle.
